How can better water management unlock the potential of small-scale agriculture to reduce poverty and hunger?

AgWater Solutions is answering this question. With support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, this three-year research program is identifying agricultural water management interventions that will help poor farmers improve their incomes and food security.

GENDER FARMING SYSTEMS FOR SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA

The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) are undertaking a gender mapping of Africa in order to better understand how to best target water management strategies to farmers.  This map will be used to develop recommendation on how to target different agriculture water management technologies to the farm's main decision makers.

We are inviting people who know the gender patterns of farming in particular areas to provide information for the map.  This knowledge may come from being an inhabitant, extension worker, Ph.D. student, researcher, gender specialist, etc.  The questionnaire will take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete.  However, the survey has been set up to allow participants the option to save completed sections and return later to complete the survey.
